APBS Membership

How to Become a Member

To become a member of the Association for Positive Behavior Support:

1. Log on to the Online Membership Website and complete your membership application or renewal and payment there.

- OR -

2. Mail a completed Membership Form with payment and supporting documentation (if needed) to the APBS office.

Membership Fees

Membership Fees:
Effective July 1, 2008

Regular membership: $80.00/year
or 3 years for $200.00
Family membership: $35.00/year
Agency membership: $125.00/year
Student membership: $35.00/year
Transitional membership: $50/year

The Nature of APBS

APBS is a multi-disciplinary, professional membership organization that engages in varied activities and endeavors related to Positive Behavior Support. APBS places greatest emphasis on activities associated with expanding the emerging science of Positive Behavior Support. Beyond expanding the science of Positive Behavior Support through research and outreach endeavors, APBS further invests its resources in supporting networking related to the design and implementation of Positive Behavior Support across various contexts. As such, APBS is primarily a scientifically oriented organization that is also heavily invested in networking. APBS also supports (on a more limited basis) policy related endeavors associated with Positive Behavior Support. APBS members have access to all association materials through various sources including the organization’s website (www.apbs.org). Further, members elect active members to its governing board on an annual basis and may access those elected board members through a variety of methods, including the website.

Primary Benefits of General Membership

  1. Complementary hard copy and online subscription to the Journal of Positive Behavior Interventions (JPBI), and to the quarterly APBS Newsletter.
  2. Access to content resources posted on the APBS website via the membership page, including archived conference presentations and webinars.
  3. Reduced cost to attend webinars live.
  4. Reduced cost of attendance at yearly conference – this cost is already far lower than most similar conferences and is further reduced per membership in the organization.
  5. Connections and mentorship from leaders in the field of PBS.
  6. Opportunity to vote on business matters and to elect APBS Board members.
  7. Opportunity to join regional, national, international and thematic networks and help to grow PBS within your constituency group and community.
  8. Increased opportunity to join a community of like-minded professionals committed to providing high quality PBS services in home, school and/or community settings.

Primary Benefits of Agency Membership

  1. Complementary hard copy and online subscription to the Journal of Positive Behavior Interventions (JPBI), and to the quarterly APBS Newsletter.

  3. Reduced costs for up to 3 agency members for all APBS events when using the agency membership’s identification number.
  4. Reduced cost to attend webinars live.
  5. Reduced cost of attendance at yearly conference – this cost is already far lower than most similar conferences and is further reduced per membership in the organization.
  6. Connections and mentorship from leaders in the field of PBS.
  7. Opportunity to network with members of other agencies similar to your own who are also members of APBS.
  8. Opportunity to vote on business matters and to elect APBS Board members.
  9. Opportunity to join regional, national, international and thematic networks and help to grow PBS within your constituency group and community.
  10. Increased opportunity to join a community of like-minded professionals committed to providing high quality PBS services in home, school and/or community settings.

Primary Benefits of Student Membership

Student members are full-time undergraduate or graduate students, residents, or interns. Students must complete verification of full-time student, intern, or resident status on their Membership Form.

  1. Reduced cost of professional organization membership.
  2. Reduced cost of attendance at yearly conference – this cost is already far lower than most similar conferences and is further reduced per membership in the organization.
  3. Complementary hard copy and online subscription to the Journal of Positive Behavior Interventions (JPBI), and to the APBS quarterly Newsletter.
  4. Access to content resources posted on the APBS website via the membership page, including archived conference presentations and webinars.
  5. Reduced cost to attend webinars live (general membership cost – not a special cost for student members).
  6. Connections and mentorship from leaders in the field of PBS.
  7. Opportunity to network with other students who are members of APBS.
  8. Opportunity to vote on business matters and to elect APBS Board members.
  9. Opportunity to join the student network as well as regional, national, international and thematic networks and help to grow PBS within your constituency group and community.
  10. Increased opportunity to join a community of like-minded students committed to providing high quality PBS services in home, school and/or community settings.
  11. Increased opportunity for access to PBS leaders in your community.

Primary Benefits of Family Membership

Family Membership will be given to individuals who verify that they are providing direct care or support to an immediate family member, i.e., child, adolescent or adult, who demonstrates chronic or persistent challenging behavior. Applicant must complete verification on their Membership Form.

  2. Reduced cost of attendance at yearly conference – this cost is already far lower than most similar conferences and is further reduced per membership in the organization.
  3. Complementary hard copy and on-line subscription to the Journal of Positive Behavior Interventions (JPBI), and to the APBS quarterly Newsletter.
  4. Access to content resources posted on the APBS website via the members page, including archived conference presentations and webinars.
  5. Reduced cost to attend webinars live.
  6. Connections and mentorship from leaders in the field of PBS.
  7. Opportunity to join regional, national, international and thematic networks and help to promote high quality PBS services to families in your community.
  8. Opportunity to network with other families who are members of APBS, and who are implementing PBS in their home and community.
  9. Opportunity to vote on business matters and to elect APBS Board members.
  10. Increased opportunity to join a community of like-minded parents and professionals committed to providing high quality PBS services in home, school and/or community settings.
  11. Increased opportunity for access to PBS leaders in your community, including parents who are providing leadership in PBS in your community.
