The nominating committee seeks candidates who will bring wisdom, effectiveness, diversity, candor, and creative thinking to the board. In choosing among candidates to develop the nominee slate, in addition to other relevant factors, the nominating committee considers each candidate’s background and experience.

E.G. “Ted” Carr was a pioneer and leader in the field of positive behavior support. Ted’s research influenced the fields of autism, psychology and special education; he had a passion for supporting individuals who are in the start of their career whether as researchers or practitioners. His contributions made significant contributions helping to focus on providing function-based supports. Ted laid the foundation for positive behavior support in his paper “Positive Behavior Support: Evolution of an Applied Science”. Ted was an advocate and founder of the Association for Positive Behavior Support and creation of the Journal of Positive Behavior Interventions. The Ted Carr awards support practitioners and researchers due to the influence he made in the field.
